Forecast.io is an inactive website and service now. Users could obtain hyperlocal weather forecasts and historical weather data by utilizing the platform’s website or mobile apps. Adam Grossman led a team of developers who founded the company in 2011. Afterward, The Weather Company purchased it and is presently part of IBM.
Various information sources were used by Forecast.io to give accurate and current climate forecasts. These included government meteorological data, climate radar, and atmospheric models. The platform leveraged machine learning algorithms to analyze atmospheric data and offer bespoke forecasts relying on user location and preferences.
While Forecast.io is no longer accessible, other weather apps and platforms have assimilated some of its technology and features. Apple’s acquisition in 2020 included Dark Sky, which was another weather app.
